  • The Wytches - The Hope & Ruin - 29th January 2017

The Wytches - The Hope & Ruin - 29th January 2017 The Wytches - The Hope & Ruin - 29th January 2017 “We’ve got two songs left and this is the happier one.” The Death of Pop’s frontman Oliver James says near the end of their set, but let’s jump back about an hour before we get to this. The Wytches are one of those bands, where you only need to see them once to become instantly obsessed. Releasing their brilliant debut album Annabel Dream Reader on Heavenly Recordings last year as well as their wondrous Thunder Lizard’s Reprieve EP (free to download) which shows another side to the band ability, they have quite rightly...
  • Drill Festival Brighton 2014 - Part 2

Drill Festival Brighton 2014 Drill Festival 2014 - Part 2 December is not usually the most promising of months for gigs, but Drill:Brighton attempted to bring the noise to 14 venues around the city, featuring a plethora of known knowns, known unknowns and unknown unknowns, centred around the band Wire, whose musical legacy has influenced and inspired many of the acts on the bill.   Brighton were very well represented at Drill:Brighton, and one of the leading lights of the underground scene are The Physics House Band, a powerhouse trio made up of drums, bass and guitar, with the occasional keyboard to add some light and texture. For a band still in their early 20s they are remarkably tight and accomplished bunch of musicians, alternating light and dark, and quiet and loud, in an astounding...
